Overview
At The British School of Body Piercing, we believe that you need to learn so much more than the actual piercing to become an excellent, professional piercer.
The course covers: specialist equipment, health & safety (including blood borne pathogens, anaesthetics and sharps handling), piercing theory (the reasons behind the methods), the biology of piercing, healing and aftercare as well as valuable components on running a small business, psychology and strategy of business marketing. There is a full day of practical piercing practice - marking, measuring, placement and techniques then 2 days of practical (supervised) piercing on live clients (provided by the school).* The final day of the course holds a written and a practical assessment. The written assessment is fully accessible and extra time will be given where it is needed.
*On average, each course can be provided with 60-100 live piercings. This means that on a group course of up to 2 people there will be roughly 30 - 50 piercings per student on real clients. This is in addition to any students who wish to have piercings whilst on the course.
On completion of the course, students are confident and knowledgeable in the art and the science of body piercing, as well as the business and marketing. The diploma awarded at the end of the course is recognised by legal advisors, insurers and suppliers in the industry. It is our hope that the BSBP standards will continue to influence lawmakers in the journey towards proper and efficient regulation of piercers in the UK.
